The hotel itself was great, with a good location, beach, and service, and the front desk and breakfast restaurant staff were friendly. But be careful: this listing isn’t the hotel’s own listing, it’s a tourist company offering rooms there. Housekeeping fell short on most days. They didn’t top up the water, soap, or amenities, made the bed poorly, and left the sheets unchanged unless we asked. The bed cover wasn’t changed at all during our stay. There was also a lot of noise, with music going until 4am on some nights. Even so, we had a great time overall.

Porto Marina El Alamein made for a lovely summer getaway, with cafes, shops, and nightlife nearby to keep the area lively. The resort is in a beautiful setting, with sea views and a relaxed atmosphere that works well for families or friends. We found plenty of dining options, spacious pools, and clean beaches, and the facilities were generally well maintained. The staff were mostly friendly and helpful. Our apartment was comfortable and had the essentials, though a few areas could use small renovations and better housekeeping.

There was construction everywhere, with workers all over, and the marina itself was closed and not operating. The beach was very dirty and oily. We were so disappointed that we left after two nights, unable to finish our four-night stay.

We couldn’t get much sleep because of constant noise, including loud neighbors, fights, things being stolen, and general chaos. You get questioned about your room number even when sitting around or going to the pool. They advertise pool view rooms, but guests can’t use that pool, only timeshare owners can. The pool available to us was a long walk away. The hotel also felt disorganized and unsafe, and I saw theft and screaming arguments between guests. It felt like a chaotic compound, not a holiday spot. We had three rooms booked as “connected” for my family, but they put them six doors apart even though I had small kids with me. The hallway speakers beside the rooms kept loudly announcing “authentication failed” every few minutes. Sleep was impossible. The phone barely worked, and room service was a joke. Nobody cleaned despite several requests, and when we asked for extra towels, they brought us the same two again. It honestly felt intentional. The rooms were disgusting. One smelled of gas, another of mold, and one had blood stains on the sheets. The couches were filthy, the bathrooms looked used, and the whole place stank. There were no towels at first. We had to keep begging, and eventually got just two for four people. When we complained, they offered to clean, but it was midnight before the rooms were supposedly ready, and they still smelled like garbage and mold. The shower wouldn’t drain, so the bathroom flooded whenever anyone showered. The hotel looked decent from the outside, but inside it felt like a war zone, overcrowded to the point of chaos. Staff were a strange mix of fake smiles and outright rudeness for no reason. The food was average at best, and the dining area, Portofino, was a disaster. Kids screamed, food was scattered everywhere, and nothing was cleaned or refilled. We even had to ask where to find cutlery. I design hotels for a living, and this was the most embarrassing, low-quality place I’ve ever encountered. It made me hate my own country for allowing something this bad to operate. This place needs to be shut down and destroyed. It’s a walking health hazard. Do yourself a favor and stay far away.
