The owners were so friendly, and the cats and dog were adorable. We asked about local crafts and places to eat, and were really glad we did. House of scorpion is beautiful and feels authentic, with the West Bank sights close by. You can watch the hot air balloons from the rooftop in the morning. The breakfast was delicious too. Thanks for making our stay in Egypt so special.

Leaving was honestly the hardest part. It felt like home, the food was delicious, and El Tayeb was such a kind, welcoming owner. Everything about our stay was more than amazing. I’d gladly come back and definitely recommend it.

At Scorpion House, you can see scorpions up close in a clean, well-kept facility, and the setting felt safe. The guides knew a lot and made the history and cultural importance of scorpions in Egypt interesting to learn about. It was a thrilling, educational highlight of our Luxor trip, and a fascinating place to visit. Highly recommended if you’re after a unique experience.

The architecture and all the little details here are unlike anywhere else I’ve stayed, and I felt completely at home. The host and their family are incredibly kind. I still keep in touch with them now and then. I loved the place so much when I stayed a few years ago that I’ve booked a room again and am waiting for the Eclipse. Whenever someone mentions going to Luxor, I tell them this is the place to stay.

The owner used to be an archeologist and built this place from scratch, with a personal story behind every detail. We had a wonderful breakfast and were lucky to get a home-cooked meal for a very modest price. The owner also has a connection to a great, affordable driver, and the location is close to everything. We could use the pool at a neighboring guest house and get very cheap smoothies by the pool. A great way to support small local businesses directly.
