Oriental Rivoli Hotel & SPA

We stayed ten nights over New Year and had a blast. The New Year's Eve party was amazing, and I've now been to Egypt five times. I'll come back to this hotel. The food was great, which is something I've never said before. The drinks aren't good, but that's Egypt for you. At the martini bar, paid drinks were excellent and good value. The staff are amazing, and the location is great. For what we paid, there's really nothing to complain about. Well done, oriental rivoli!

Getting around was easy, with nearby supermarkets where we found souvenirs at very good prices, and a taxi to the souk was affordable and straightforward. The hotel also runs a free shuttle to a nearby beach, so we could enjoy the sea without sorting out transport. We had a very pleasant stay. Service was excellent, including fresh fruit delivered to our room and as much water as we needed. The buffet food was tasty and had plenty of choice, with snacks available throughout the day. It was a comfortable stay with good food and a convenient location. I'd definitely recommend it.

My room could definitely use some renovation, but the hotel itself was fine. The food was good and the staff were great. You can walk safely to Nama bay.

My stay at the Oriental Rivoli Spa started very well, but the morning checkout left me genuinely disappointed. I'd planned to give five stars because the evening reception team were polite and efficient. When my flight landed late, they even arranged a delicious dinner to be brought to my room after the restaurant had closed. The next morning, one receptionist took more than 15 minutes to deal with Italian guests, and I was left waiting. My guide arrived and politely said we needed to hurry for our tour. The receptionist then spoke about me in Arabic to my guide, apparently assuming I wouldn't understand. I did understand: he made derogatory comments and blamed me for being late, even though the delay was caused by his trouble handling the other guests. After that, he kept me waiting another 15 minutes while he insisted on searching my room before I could leave. I've never been treated with such suspicion or disrespect at checkout. It was humiliating and made me feel like a criminal or a thief. I've since seen other reviews describing occasional room searches and rude customer service, so it seems to be a pattern. They also make you fill out a satisfaction form before starting the room search, apparently to collect good reviews before ruining the experience. His unprofessional behavior, lying about a guest in another language, and what felt like discriminatory treatment ruined my impression of the hotel. A hotel should show its guests respect. I'll never return to the Oriental Rivoli Spa and can't recommend it after this experience.
