Umbi Sharks Bay Diving Village

We stayed in a triple room high up in the hotel, with a great view over the place. Umbi Sharks Bay sits on a cliff above the sea, and the beach is just a minute’s walk away, with food and drinks from the inclusive restaurant. The team there were so kind, friendly, and organized. We booked parasailing and a snorkelling trip through them, and everything ran on time. It was our first time in Sharm ElSheikh, and getting around was easy: it’s centrally located, so you can catch a car and reach most places in 15-20 minutes. The room had no Wi-Fi, though, and hot water in the shower was inconsistent.

I really liked being able to swim from one jetty to another and even farther out. The staff were polite, attentive, clean, and treated guests with a lot of respect; everything seemed well coordinated. My room had a huge balcony overlooking the sea, with stone and wood inside and antique Egyptian artifacts on the walls. The wide bed and pillows were comfortable, which was especially good for my back. It was cleaned regularly and thoroughly, and had air conditioning, a fridge, TV, and hot shower. Breakfast and dinner were included. Breakfast came with fresh fruit salad, omelette, yogurt, pastries, several cheeses including feta, coffee, and tea. A waiter brought me fresh water each morning. Dinner felt more like a restaurant: choose two dishes and dessert from a menu, then they make it fresh and serve it nicely. A lovely place for privacy, relaxing, and good food.

You can snorkel right from the shore at Umbi Sharks Bay Diving Village, with the coral reef and colorful fish just in front of the beach. There’s no extra fee or transfer needed. I loved my stay in Sharm El Sheikh. The resort has a PADI certified dive centre and its own jetty, so diving is easy to arrange from the hotel. The beach is comfortable, with umbrellas, sunbeds, and soft mattresses. There’s also a water sports centre for banana rides and parasailing, a massage area that I’d recommend, and excursions around Sinai. Food was tasty with plenty of variety, the accommodation was clean and cozy, and the staff were exceptionally kind and helpful. Great spot if you want to snorkel or scuba dive without heading elsewhere.

We spent five days diving from the boat and really enjoyed both the dives and the atmosphere onboard. The guides were mostly friendly and helpful, and the equipment was in relatively good condition. Back at Umbi Sharks Bay Diving Village, our room was quiet with a lovely sea view, the staff were polite and helpful, and the restaurant food was varied and quite good. Drinks were reasonably priced too. One problem: if you arrange an airport transfer, remind them. They didn’t show up for us or a few other guests.
