The place and the life around it felt out of this world, and the scenery was just as special. You do need a car, and those steep, narrow roads take some confidence. But Arbegain Etxea is a great base: Zarautz is about 10 minutes away, San Sebastion around 20-25 minutes, and the motorways are close if you want to go farther. We visited Bilbao and Gurnica, both fantastic, and crossed into France for Biarritz and Bayonne to see a top 14 rugby game. The ferry from Portsmouth to Santander was a treat too. Zarautz has everything you could want, including a lovely surfers beach. We first booked here last year after struggling to find reasonably priced accommodation in the city. The hosts were fantastic, so we came back this year. JuanPe and MariaJose were at least as good, and we're already hoping for a third visit. I travel a lot for work and can be fussy about holidays, but we had what may have been our best restaurant meal ever in San Sebatian, fish and Basque cheesecake. The facilities also let us rustle up some quality meals at Arbegain, and we got to feed the donkeys as well.

We had a fantastic weekend in a spectacular setting, with such thoughtful service. The apartment was quiet, spotless and roomy, with everything to ourselves: a full kitchen and bathroom, plus a living room and bedroom. A lovely place in an idyllic spot. We'd happily come back.

Josu and Isabel made us feel right at home, with thoughtful touches and really good suggestions for places to visit. The apartment itself was beautiful, nicely decorated and very well equipped. We spent a week there and loved being surrounded by nature, with incredible views. Highly recommend it.

The house was in a spectacular spot, so peaceful, and cozy inside with everything we needed. The decor was tasteful, and they even welcomed us with a bottle of txakoli and one of cider, such a nice touch. Josu and Isabel were delightful, always checking that we were comfortable and sharing useful tips on what to see and where to go. We stayed four nights and couldn't have asked for a better experience. We'd definitely return!

Josu and Isabel were wonderful hosts, so attentive and lovely, and even left us a welcome gift. The house sits right in nature, with spectacular views, and Zarautz beach is only about 15 minutes away. Everything felt just right during our stay: comfortable, clean, fully equipped and decorated with care. A magical visit. Thanks so much, we'll be back!
