Hostal El Patio

We got a good night's sleep in this lovely little courtyard. It’s a simple room with kind service, in a safe spot close to restaurants and the airport. Some of the fixtures are a bit outdated, but that was fine with us. Great little hostel!

The surrounding area felt safe, with a police station right beside the motel, though finding a parking space on the street is down to luck. The room was tiny, barely big enough for the bed, and the lobby looked somewhat out of the Hobbit movie. The younger staff member was rude several times when I asked questions, and none of the staff spoke decent English, so communication was difficult. I’d rate the place as good, but I wouldn’t return.

The rooms are basic, but functional, clean and cosy. I booked a super economy room and was pleasantly surprised. A kettle would have been nice. The staff are pleasant and helpful, and it’s excellent value for money for this area. The guest house is in a great central location in town, with regular buses all day to Malaga, Torremolinos and various other destinations. Alhurin de la Torre is a modern yet beautiful town, with fantastic garden themes. A highly recommended must-see for keen gardeners. I’d definitely stay here again.

The aircon was a broken antique on a timer controlled from reception, so you couldn’t run it during the day and it switched off at night. The bathroom was a joke, and the top duvet cover had badly stained DNA!! My wife, friends and I stayed for one night. It was by far the most awful hostel experience we’ve ever had.
