Occidental Alicante Hotel

That 24-hour complimentary coffee machine in the lobby was a lovely touch. We also had a spacious, quiet room where the A/C and Wi-Fi worked perfectly. The breakfast buffet was very good, with some items changing each day, and the facilities were clean. Service was excellent and the location worked well for us.

We spent three nights here and were really happy with the stay. The room was tidy and clean, everything worked, and housekeeping brought fresh towels each day. Restaurants, cafés, and shops are right outside, in the very centre. Would recommend.

The room was dirty when I finally got to it, and it was very small. Its tiny window looked straight into the neighboring building, so there was little daylight and no privacy. That made for a depressing start to my stay. I had arrived late after a long drive and hoped for an easy check-in at Occidental Alicante. Instead, the woman at reception seemed more interested in talking to her colleague. When I got her attention, she acted irritated and spoke in a rude, cold, dismissive way. The whole interaction felt uncomfortable and unprofessional, especially when I was tired. Between that reception and an unclean room, this was a terrible experience, and not what I'd expect from a hotel presenting itself as a quality place.

We felt unwelcome and dissatisfied throughout our stay at Occidental. Staff recognized us but asked for our room number twice in a row. We understand that they may need to verify it, but they held a list and seemed to single us out, which made us uncomfortable. Housekeeping also left a lot undone. The rooms weren't vacuumed, there were insects, and only my friend's bed was made. Mine wasn't touched. We expected clean rooms, consistent service, and respectful treatment, and didn't get those basics.
