Sweet San Francisco

I liked how central the attic apartment was, and it was clean, spacious, and had a big balcony. We stayed two nights. A few practical details made it less comfortable for a frequent traveler: there were no bedside tables or bedroom drawers, so my phone, charger, book, and water ended up on the floor, and clothes that couldn't be hung stayed in my suitcase. The kitchen had very few cooking utensils. I found a frying pan but no spatula when I tried to make an egg. There was nowhere under the bathroom sink to put my toiletries, and no full-length mirror. Also, there isn't a lift, so I wouldn't suggest it for older guests. I still recommend it, and hope the owners consider these small improvements.

We got no help when things went wrong, and there was no reception staff in the building. The door handle was broken, the air conditioner dripped, and the toilet ceiling in my friend's room leaked. We asked to change rooms and were refused, then requested repairs and waited two hours without anyone showing up. Calls went unanswered; when someone finally picked up, the call got cut off. I can't decide whether the room or the service was more frustrating. We still haven't received any refund or compensation.

We paid 159 for the night and arrived to find there was no room for us. They had double-booked it, and a French family had been sent the same access code. There was no staff member around to help. We only got a refund because we had booked through a site and they handled it. A cleaner was there as we left; after I explained what happened, she said it happened every day. She'd worked there for two months and had never seen anyone else who worked there. We were left stranded in Alicante with nowhere to stay, since everything was booked at such short notice, and spent most of the day stuck there. It was horrible, and I'd never go back.

We stayed at the start of April 2023, and nine weeks later the person handling our refund has stopped answering our messages. Dirty water leaked into the bathroom from above and flooded the apartment. We were promised a refund, but haven't received it. The service was very bad. I'd give zero stars if I could.
