Urban Rooms Alicante

I waited a few days after leaving to calm down before writing this. I travel a lot, and this was the worst stay I've had. I felt shaken by the experience and it was nowhere near what I expected. I came to sightsee and sleep, and was a polite, quiet guest. The road is very loud, and noise from other people in the place carries too. Doors banged all night. At 3am I asked a neighbor to be quiet, but because he was very drunk, he spent the whole night knocking on my door. The hostile host stood there and didn't ask him to stop. It went on for over an hour. I didn't realize the host was the owner. The owner seemed unhappy and acted as if the place were his home. He had his TV on loudly in a room next to the guests' rooms, with his door open, so it echoed through the place into the early hours. I could hear him cooking and making drinks. He banged cupboards around midnight, cooked, and the whole place smelled. If I asked him anything, he'd say he didn't understand English. For 10 euros more a night, I could have had a double bed on a quiet street instead of a single bed on a main highway. The pillow I had was old and useless, and my neck hurt. I also only had one small towel. The next day, I asked a female cleaner for another towel, and she took one from the empty room beside mine. I saw a pillow in there too, so I borrowed it, following what the cleaner had done. The man went crazy within seconds, threatened me, banged on my door and pointed at the pillow, pushing me back into my room. His own room was full of pillows, but he seemed not to want guests to have any comfort. He wouldn't let me pass until I begged to use the pillow. It felt sinister. The cleaner had taken the towel from the empty room, and its door was open. After checkout, I was glad to leave. An hour later, I got a long WhatsApp message accusing me of stealing a small plant pot and saying I'd be charged. I had checked in late and needed a drink. The pot was the only thing I could find that looked like a water glass, and I didn't want to search through the man's cupboards. I used it as a cup, washed it the morning I left, and left it on the side to dry by his sink. On the way to the airport, I was accused of taking it. He said he'd watched me on CCTV at 1:30am, and it felt like I was being stalked. He wanted to charge me 20 euros for using it. He eventually found the pot and followed up to say he had it, but then complained that I shouldn't have taken a pillow to my room. There was no apology for that, and the whole saga took up half my morning. Instead of watching me on CCTV, he could have asked where the pot was. I would have explained I was using it as a cup. I imagine if I'd taken a glass from his cupboard, he'd have accused me of that too. He looked for problems when there weren't any, apart from him. Accusing someone of stealing without checking first caused me a lot of stress, and an apology only came in the final message. The service and experience were horrendous.
