Oca Villa de Avilés Hotel

From the street it looked impressive, but our room was badly worn, especially the bathtub and bathroom. The old mattresses and pillows were so uncomfortable that we couldn’t sleep. I wouldn’t stay here again.

The staff were friendly and professional, and the room was spacious. The location was very good, right in the city center near everything you might need. Wi-Fi stayed reliable during my visit, the shower had strong pressure, and breakfast was okay. I slept badly because the mattress was much too soft for me. The bathroom layout was odd too, with the toilet tucked into a spot that felt claustrophobic to use. Noise was another problem. The hotel wasn’t well soundproofed, and people talking loudly in the corridor woke me early. For the price, I expected more, especially a decent night’s sleep.

Pablo at the front desk was so friendly, and he remembered my birthday the morning we left. The hotel is in the city center, and its exterior looks modern and new, though the rooms could use some updating. They were clean, and the beds were comfortable.

The room felt cramped, especially with a column taking up space, and some of the furniture looked dated. The beds were large and the mattress was good quality. The bathroom was small, but had what we needed and everything worked. The extraction grille could use a proper clean, there was too much dust and dirt. The location was good, around a 12-minute walk to the city center, and it was easy to find. Parking was available for €9,00. The receptionist was friendly at check-in. We didn’t use the breakfast buffet, which cost €13.50 per person. My impression was somewhere in between: this doesn’t feel like a 4-star hotel, and 3 stars would be more fitting.
