Chic&basic Habana Hoose Hotel

Room 309 had some evening street noise, which is understandable for a spot like this, though things quieted down later and it wasn’t noisy all night. The balcony French doors were awkward to close; pushing at the top while locking them worked. Inside the hotel it was otherwise pretty quiet. The room also felt quite dark, even with the lights on, though it does fit the theme. The hotel’s in a great location, with lots of shops and things to do nearby. The surrounding restaurants were varied and all very good. Staff were cheerful, kind, and accommodating. Breakfast was generous, and the coffee and water stations were a useful idea. All in all, it was a good base for a break in central Barcelona.

If you like a bit of city life outside, this place works really well. Habana Hoose is in a lively part of Barcelona, so there can be activity around in the evenings. Anyone wanting absolute quiet might find that less suitable. Getting around is easy, with the Jaume I metro stop only a few minutes away and convenient for the airport or elsewhere in town. The staff were friendly and helpful, and our room was spacious and clean. There’s complimentary coffee, tea, and still or sparkling water on every floor at any hour. I’d also spend a bit extra on breakfast. The buffet was very complete, and the made-to-order cortado was a perfect start to each morning.

I could easily have stayed four weeks instead of four days. The hotel is right among El Born and Barri Gòtic, with La Barceloneta and Parc de la Ciutadella both a short walk away. Palau de la Música is close too, so check what’s on while you’re there. For food and drink, I’d pick Ziryab Fusió for the tasting menu with wine pairing, and Coto Coffee if you’re a coffee snob like me. The location is unbeatable.

We loved the hotel’s atmosphere, and everything was tidy and clean. The shower was amazing and the bed so comfortable. It’s extremely well placed, just a one-minute walk from the station. Highly recommend it, we’re definitely coming back.
