Ella Hostel Barcelona

Getting into the hotel was a bit confusing, but the staff were patient and helpful, and it all worked out. We loved this cozy little boutique: the rooms were adorable, the service was excellent, and the location was top tier. We'd happily stay again.

My first stay here, two years ago, was excellent. I was travelling alone for a week, and the staff looked after me from arrival through departure. The property was spotless and very well maintained. Coming back recently with a friend was a completely different experience. We booked the penthouse apartment, but it was in bad repair and had extensive black mould. We relied on antihistamines throughout our four nights there and felt uneasy, eager to leave instead of enjoying a comfortable home away from home. We had told the hotel twice when we expected to arrive, yet nobody was at reception when we got there. The supplies were also inadequate. Two adults were given only two and a half rolls of toilet paper for four nights. We were expected to take our rubbish downstairs to avoid extra charges, but that wasn't made clear when we booked; it appeared only in the apartment manual. The woman who greeted us kept stressing that the apartment was run separately from the boutique hotel, which is confusing when it's advertised on the hotel's website and booking platforms as part of its accommodation. I don't know if management has changed, but the experience has gone downhill. I'd suggest bringing in hospitality professionals with experience instead of inexperienced students. After this return visit, I can't recommend Violeta Boutique Hotel anymore.

Our room was beautiful and roomy, with a lovely terrace overlooking the street, and the staff were so friendly. The location was perfect for walking to everything, including Gaudi casas, the basilica, and the metro. Highly recommend.

The room was clean and had enough space for three adults. Before we could get into it, the kind hotel staff let us leave our luggage at the hotel, which was really helpful. It’s a perfect base for sightseeing around Barcelona. Highly recommend!
