Hostal Paraiso

At 4:30 a.m., a woman who seemed drunk and out of it came into the room, talking loudly on her phone. She didn’t seem to understand English and kept making noise, so I eventually got her out and locked the door from inside. She then knocked aggressively for more than 10 minutes. I messaged and called reception, but nobody answered, so I gave up and tried to sleep. The knocking went on for ages, and my roommates and I finally opened the door. It was the night staff member, who’d been trying to get her belongings. When I asked if he worked there, I said he must have a key, but he never told us he was staff. All he said was, “You cannot lock the door.” I couldn’t understand him at all, and he didn’t explain what was happening properly. He said he was the manager. A few hours later, when I checked out, he didn’t apologize or thank me. He just tossed the €10 key deposit onto the counter without a word. What friendly, professional service.

Paraiso hostel felt like home when we needed somewhere at short notice, and we loved our stay. The facilities are basic, but they’ve got what you need, apart from a washing machine 😞 The staff and other guests were super friendly. It’s well located for the seaside area, with buses and the metro to get around Barcelona, plus good places to eat nearby. We enjoyed it thoroughly.

For the price, this was a good experience. I had a clean, pleasant private room for one night, with a shared bathroom, and felt safe there. The staff were all lovely. I didn’t look at the kitchen, but the common area and terrace were nice. The room was a bit warm even with the fan running. It was still fine, though it might be uncomfortable in summer.

The location’s great. We walked to almost every tourist attraction in Barcelona, and the longest trip on foot was about 35 or 40 minutes.
