The staff showed zero guest service. The front door didn’t lock, and there were two homeless people outside it that night. That felt like a safety issue. Our patio door wouldn’t lock either, another serious safety concern. There’s no elevator. The service elevator, which is in another building, didn’t work either. The rooms are on what I count as the fourth floor, though they say reception is on the second. It’s actually up a narrow, winding staircase with 62 steps, which is tough with luggage. We left our bags with friends and only took a night bag upstairs. Anyone with health issues would struggle with those stairs. You also need your passport to check in, and they charge city tax when you arrive. In response to your comments, first, you gave me a code for the front door, but the door still didn’t lock. Other hotel and apartment building doors are locked, which helps keep homeless people and others out of the entryway. Second, your rooms are on the fourth floor if you count the entry floor. The service elevator didn’t work, so we had to leave our luggage with friends and climb those narrow, winding 62 steps. Anyone with health issues couldn’t walk up them. You also didn’t address the patio door that wouldn’t lock, a huge safety issue. You can sugar coat your comments, but your listing is very deceiving to anyone thinking about staying there, and I was amazed by your nonchalant attitude after I raised these issues.

The room was clean, with a nice courtyard view and a small balcony furnished with a table and two chairs. It’s a safe area, close to the metro and to shops and restaurants on the street behind. Las Ramblas is walkable from here, but far enough away to escape the madness.

Clean and cozy, and close to the city centre. The woman at reception was very kind and helped us with whatever information we needed. We hope to come back, and we’d recommend it 100%.

Right in the middle of everything, with a clean, spacious room and really friendly, helpful staff. This Hostal is amazing, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for a nice place to stay.
