Hotel Alimara

The room had no hot water in the evenings, so after a full day out we were left with an ice-cold shower. That's unacceptable. The breakfast was also a sorry, low-effort spread: cheap food, hardly any variety or healthy choices, mostly processed and sugary options, with nothing fresh or balanced. It felt like an afterthought. Worst of all, my AirPods went missing. Reception said they hadn't been found, but the AirPods are trackable and I could see them moving around Barcelona. Either the staff don't understand lost property, or they think guests are stupid. This felt dishonest and untrustworthy. Between the poor food, missing basic comforts, and staff who lied to my face, this place has nothing going for it. Pure trash from start to finish.

The hotel is right beside the motorway, so it was quite noisy. The rooms also got very hot in the evening because there was no air conditioning. My other issue was the security safe, which needed resetting a couple of times, although staff sorted it out straight away. Otherwise, a decent hotel in a great location, just two minutes from Mundet metro station.

It was hard to sleep with the traffic noise at night, and the room itself wasn't much better. The walls were scratched and damaged, and it felt more like a one- or two-star hotel than a four-star one. The location was okay, fairly close to the metro, but the stay was way, way overpriced for what you get. At check-in they also asked us to pay a city tax of over 30 euros that hadn't been disclosed in advance. There was no hot water. I'd seen similar reviews about level 9, and after waiting and waiting, only cold water came out. Honestly horrible to pay so much for such a bad stay.

The price for four nights was much lower than at other places, and now I see why. The beds squeaked terribly and were impossible to sleep on. We asked for a double but got two squeaky singles. Traffic from the highway came through the poor windows all night, and the thin walls meant we could practically talk to the next-door neighbor. Every morning, people leaving for breakfast slammed the loud doors and woke us up. It wasn't their fault, the doors were just that noisy. There was also a constant awful drainage smell, so we had to keep the window open. This is nowhere near a four-star hotel. Avoid it at all costs.
