Indigo Barcelona - Plaza Catalunya Hotel

The room was quiet enough at night despite facing the main road, and the air conditioning stayed quiet on a low setting. We slept well with it set to 24 degrees, though we sometimes heard people in neighboring rooms. Our room was at the end of a long, winding corridor. It had a balcony, but it wasn’t wheelchair accessible. The beds were very good, and the shower gel and shampoo smelled lovely. The TV was irritating: whenever we entered and put in the key card, it played a short advertising loop. The sheltered pool was cold, and I didn’t try it because there was no hoist, though I imagine it’s popular in summer. Staff were helpful and seemed to put real effort into keeping guests happy. It felt like a step up from the main IHG brands such as Holiday Inn Express, and it’s close to many sights. Breakfast had plenty of choice. On our last day they offered complimentary extras, including omelettes, and my daughter had churros and chocolate. Ordering at the restaurant was a bit of a language muddle. My cheeseburger with chips arrived as a plain burger on paper, and the “chips” turned out to be crisps. The food wasn’t cheap for the quality, though I suppose that’s what you get in a four-star hotel.

Our room had fantastic views, and the beds and room itself were quite nice. The hotel is central, with excellent staff. At breakfast they’ll make you an omelet, though you have to ask since it isn’t advertised.

I left feeling really happy with the stay. Jarra was especially cheerful and fun, and the staff were kind throughout. The room was beautifully designed and comfortable. Getting around was easy too: the subway is nearby, and Plaça de Catalunya, Casa Batlló, and Mercadona are all within easy reach.

The front desk team were friendly, courteous, and helpful. Tamer deserves a special mention for truly outstanding service. Louis in the dining room was also exceptional at breakfast, always friendly, helpful, and courteous. The room was clean, nicely furnished, and had a fabulous bed, a balcony, and a beautiful city view. The shower was incredible and the wi-fi was great. The stylish, distinctive design gives the place a cozy, intimate boutique feel. A very pleasant surprise, and I’d highly recommend giving it a try.
