Santa Marta Hotel

The location was very convenient for attractions, the metro, and the train station. They let us store our luggage, and there was a bathroom in the lobby. Staff were fantastic and very kind. I asked for ice one night and they brought me some, though it would be nice if a large hotel like this had an ice machine or at least an ice bucket, since the fridge has no freezer space. The room was typical for a big city, not very large but perfectly doable, with a small accessible balcony. My wife loved the kettle for making her own coffee, and there was a mini-fridge. The on-site exercise facility was nice, but after walking 18,000 steps a day, we didn’t use it. There was also a container of ice water in the lobby.

We only stayed one night while passing through Barcelona, but had a wonderful time. Breakfast had a huge range of choices and was fantastic. The room was tidy and clean with a great view, and the bathroom was spacious and spotless. Staff were friendly, answered all our questions, and arranged a taxi for the next day that arrived right on time. We can’t wait to come back to Barcelona and will definitely stay here again!

The beds and pillows were so comfy that I slept happily every night. The hotel is in a good spot, not far from the metro, and the reception staff are very nice and friendly. I’d give room service four stars because they don’t replace things like bottled water or toothbrushes every day.

What upset us most was that the missing shirt had photos of our cat, who had recently passed away. It disappeared after the room was cleaned. We reported it to management, but there was no satisfactory resolution or compensation. To clarify the follow-up: updates weren’t given proactively, and we had to keep asking for news about the investigation. The “gesture of goodwill” was a free drink, which didn’t compare to the item’s approximate $100 value. I understand things can get misplaced, but the lack of communication and the compensation offered made a disappointing experience even more frustrating. I appreciate that the issue was acknowledged and hope they make changes to prevent this happening again.
