Hotel Medinaceli 4*S

I found the breakfast buffet disappointing, with very few choices and poor value for the price. We were given just one complimentary bottle of water for our three-night stay, and the balcony floor was dirty with bird droppings. There were no bathrobes or slippers, which I’d normally expect at a hotel of this standard. The location also wasn’t central for us, far from Sagrada Familia, Park Guell and other major sights. The room view didn’t match the photos shown on the website when we booked, so relying on the positive reviews was a mistake.

We arrived early and the hotel desk staff kindly stored our bags. They were wonderful, and there’s a coffee shop and grocery store right outside. The hotel is in a fairly quiet area, with very clean rooms and lovely interior design. Breakfast was great and worth the 16euros. Highly recommended!

The one thing to know is that you can hear events from the public space on the marina waterfront a few hundred meters away, and the hotel is on a public square, so bring ear plugs. Otherwise, we loved the beautiful room, comfortable beds and balcony overlooking the lively area. It felt boutique, the staff were friendly, and everything was clean. The location was really convenient for Barcelonaleta beach and Gothic Quarter. I’ll never stay anywhere else in Barcelona. We LOVED it.

The staff were exceptional and went above and beyond to see that we had what we needed. The rooms were lovely, breakfast was delicious, and the hotel itself is beautiful and well located. Fantastic, absolutely recommend!
