Hotel Pedralbes

They just send you the door code after booking, so everything is digital. If you have a question or something goes wrong, there’s nobody at the hotel to help. I didn’t see staff anywhere, and the bedsheets and pillows weren’t clean.

Getting into the building was very easy, and the room itself was nice. Overall, the stay wasn’t too bad. But on our first day we found an open, used condom wrapper under the bed, which made us question how well the rooms are cleaned. The next day, after we got back from our visits, one of our charging bricks had broken while plugged into the wall. Half was lying on the nightstand, and the other half was still in the wall with exposed wires. There was no warning.

I had paid for the first of my three nights, but when I arrived my phone battery had just died and I couldn’t retrieve the codes they’d sent. I couldn’t get in, so I had to find another hotel for that night. This really showed me why it matters to have a staff member on site at least most of the time. I got into the room the next day. It was clean, but not very comfortable, with no fridge, and it cost more than the other hotel I’d been forced to stay in. I won’t stay there again.

The toilet had a bad smell, and there was a gap around the room door that let hallway light and noise through whenever people in nearby rooms came and went. There’s no staff on site apart from the cleaning crew, so you have to contact them through Whatsapp if anything comes up. I didn’t need to do that during my stay. Otherwise, the accommodation was quiet and surprisingly good for my short trip to Barcelona. The room was spacious, clean, and had everything I needed. Check-in and check-out were fully digital and easy enough, with the door codes and other details sent well in advance. The large ground-floor common room was clean too, with space to eat and lounge, free coffee and tea, and a vending machine. It was easy enough to find using navigation, though the residential neighborhood wasn’t anything special. Restaurants and shops were within walking distance. Metro and other transport were available too, but took a bit of walking to reach. There’s paid parking right outside if you have a car.
