Sant Agustí Hotel

The location's the one good thing about this place. The walls are paper thin. We could hear complete conversations from next door at 2 am, plus stomping heels and even their phones ringing. We called the front desk at 2 am to ask for help. They told us to go outside, find the neighbors' door number, then call back. A little while later, we heard their phone ringing too. Nothing changed. Horrible stay, honestly 0/5 stars. Wouldn't recommend if you don't want to hear your neighbors all night.

The rooms are an adequate size, but check whether you're booking an interior or exterior room, since that changes the experience. The location is very central and close to tourist areas, so you don't have to walk far. It also means the area isn't especially calm or quiet.

The only real plus is the location, just off La Rambla and with metro access. The area felt sketchy, and the customer service wasn't great. At check-in, the front desk worker wouldn't look up from her phone and acted as if we were bothering her. Our room wasn't very clean either: there were hairs and stains on the sheets, and dirt and dust in the bathroom. I know it's an old building, but the walls are paper thin, and we heard talking and snoring all night. Read the reviews before booking.

We picked the hotel for its proximity to La Rambla, El Mercado Boquería, and Plaza Catalunya. I'd seen noise complaints in reviews, so I brought earplugs, but after sightseeing all day we were so tired that we slept right through till morning. Our room was clean and comfortable, with a balcony facing the square. We grabbed coffee and pastries from the shop across the road before heading out to catch buses around the city. The metro station is very close too. I'd definitely stay here again.
