Hotel Paxton Barcelona

The rooftop was a nice spot to relax, with a small pool, bar, and sunken seating area, and there's a gym on that floor too. The hotel is in a pleasant area, with plenty of bars, restaurants, cake and ice cream shops along the local Rambles. It's about a seven-minute walk to the beach and the nearest metro station, Llacuna. Inside, it's a modern hotel with an open reception and seating area, plus a restaurant, bar, and lounge. It never felt crowded, even at busy times. The rooms are spacious and nice, though the shower and toilet area is open plan, with glass doors and panels, so it may not suit you if you want privacy.

We stayed four nights, and the location worked well: the city center is about a 20-minute walk through a nice neighborhood, and the beach is around 15 minutes on foot. Breakfast had plenty of variety, including pastries, baked goods, different bacon options, juices, and several coffees. The gym and rooftop pool on the fourth floor were a nice extra for relaxing in the sun. The room was clean, well maintained, thoughtfully designed, and well equipped, with a pleasant bathroom, hairdryer, quality Rituals toiletries, capsule coffee machine, and fridge. Housekeeping left fresh mineral water and new coffee capsules each day. Staff from reception to breakfast and housekeeping were friendly, positive, helpful, and attentive. We'd definitely stay again.

The hotel looks beautiful, with stylish design, and the reception staff were friendly. But the rooms aren't well soundproofed, so it can get quite noisy, especially facing the main road. Breakfast didn't feel worth €25: the selection was limited and basic. The bar also closes at 10 pm, which seems early. During our stay, the bartender came across as somewhat rude and seemed annoyed when taking final drink orders shortly before closing, instead of offering guests a last round.

The soundproofing could be better. We could clearly hear street noise and the neighbors, and the step in the room could be hazardous at night. Still, the staff were attentive and made an effort to help us. The hotel itself is beautiful and modern, with captivating design and a great atmosphere. The rooms are stylish and well equipped, breakfast is generous with local options, and the staff are kind and helpful.
