Lumine Luxury La Pedrera

We booked Room 6 as a 50th birthday present and were shocked by what we found. The room felt damp and didn't look like the photos. We sat on the bed and couldn't find a cup or glass for water, or any extra pillows. They call this a luxury suite, but HMP Dartmouth has better rooms. Avoid.

Only good things were the central location and the room's generous size. The bathroom window also wouldn't open, the hot water didn't work properly, and the soundproofing was basically nonexistent. Staff bringing sheets arrived at 1 a.m., waking us both with noises that sounded like they were right in the room. The toilet wouldn't flush even though we'd only put toilet paper in it, and I couldn't use it for a whole day because help took so long. I rang the supposed 24-hour assistance number, but the man said at 7 p.m. that he couldn't do anything until the next day. When I heard nothing, I called again, and he said someone in another department would contact me. Nobody did. I tried another number and learned he hadn't passed the message on. After 24 hours, someone finally came while we were out. I'd asked them to update me, but no one did, so I called yet again and was told it had been fixed, with no one having bothered to let me know. Hell.

Four stars for the good value and how clean everything was. It's a good fit for a short stay. Just know Room 5 has no bathroom inside it. The bathroom is private, but outside the room. There's also no one to help with check-in or keys, so I'd recommend it to people who are comfortable with technology.

I was impressed by how quickly the staff replied and how kind they were when I had to cancel unexpectedly because my son was admitted to hospital. They refunded the full amount, which I’m very grateful for. I haven’t stayed here yet, but I’ll keep it in mind for a future trip with my son.
