MH Apartments S. Familia

We loved the coffee shop across the road, Blackbird Corner, and being so close to Sagrada Familia. The apartment itself was nice, with two bedrooms and two bathrooms, which worked well for two couples. Having a washing machine and clothes airer was handy too. It’s not really central to much else. Reception is by telephone and the staff weren’t very courteous. We could store our luggage until check-in, which helped, but using the lockers takes a one Euro coin as a deposit. The self check-in was a bit painful, and remember there’s city tax of around 7 euros per person per day to pay at check-in.

The apartment was clean and had everything we needed. Check-in was easy, and the location right beside Sagrada Familia is amazing. There are lots of great places to eat nearby. Highly recommend.

The automated check-in was annoying. After a long drive, we were all stuck in the entrance hall entering details on a touchscreen, desperate for the toilet. It was frustrating and unpleasant. The room itself was quiet, even though it was on the 1st floor, and our 2 night stay was very pleasant. It was clean and spacious, with a partial view of the Cathedral from the back. At £200 a night, a free bottle of wine might have been nice.

There’s plenty of kitchen equipment for a longer stay, including a dishwasher, washing machine and fridge, so you can make your own meals. They leave a starter pack with detergent, a scrubber and dishwasher tablets, but just 1 of each, so for a couple of days you’ll need to buy more. The location is nice, about a 5 minute walk from Sagrada Familia, with restaurants and transport connections close by. They’re strict about the 11am checkout. We were only 5-10 minutes late, and the cleaner was already grumbling, so keep an eye on the time.
