Occidental Barcelona 1929

The pool and terrace are a lovely extra, and I find the hotel great value for money. Each time we visit, I book four rooms. This was my second stay, and it was great again: helpful, friendly staff, good food and a nice bar. The whole place was spotless, and the location is great.

The main thing that needs attention is the elevators. On several of them, the floor doesn’t line up with the landing, leaving a step of about 3 cm when the doors open. It’s easy to trip if you don’t notice it. We saw a child fall, and it happened a few times in different elevators on different floors. I think it should be fixed. Otherwise, the hotel is in a convenient district, with the metro station directly in front and the sights about 10 minutes away. Our room was clean and spacious, and the double front windows did a good job keeping out the busy street noise. Breakfast had plenty of choices, and the staff were very friendly.

For our birthday trip, the hotel surprised us with wine and cake. Such a thoughtful gesture, and it made the stay feel extra special. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere felt warm and welcoming. Our room at Catalonia Barcelona Plaza was clean, comfortable and well maintained. The location was very convenient, with the train and metro station right below. The area felt safe and lively, and there were lots of shops and restaurants nearby. We had a great time and would happily stay again.

The location is great, the rooms are cozy and breakfast was amazing, probably the best I’ve had at a hotel in 10 years. But the AC doesn’t work, and outside it’s too noisy to sleep with the windows open.
