For three nights, this was just right for us. The rooms are small but cozy, with a fun, hip feel, which makes the name Petit Hotel fit. Ours had a large round table, two chairs, and a stocked mini fridge with things like olives, chips, beer, cava, and sweets at reasonable hotel prices. There was still space for our own items. We chose a room with an internal bathroom, and both the room and bathroom were spotless and well maintained. The staff were lovely and helpful, suggesting places to visit and explaining the booking process and what extras we could request. We usually headed out around 8-9 in the morning and came back after 10-11 at night, so it worked well for a trip focused on Barcelona itself. The hotel is in a pleasant part of town, easy to find, and a short walk from buses and the metro. We mostly walked around, but it was useful to have the station nearby. Since it’s in an older apartment building, you’re sharing the building with local residents and there’s a doorman. You get actual keys for the front entrance, hotel, and room. I liked that each room has a name based on a local attraction instead of a number. Ours was La Sagrada Familia, and its keychain had the attraction on it. We had a great stay at Petit Hotel and would recommend it. Already looking forward to coming back!

I’m updating my review because the hotel owner contacted me about it. The room was cute, simple, and generally clean, and the reception guy was incredibly kind and willing to help with anything. I’d give him 10 stars if I could. The location also deserves five stars in my case, since I was visiting the barraquer oftalmologic center right across the street. What made the stay unpleasant was the strong damp, moldy smell in the room. It was so pungent that trying to rest became unbearable. The TV was broken too, and I was disappointed that there didn’t seem to be complimentary coffee or water. At least when I tried to use the kitchen at 8:30 a.m., it was closed.

A heads-up for cyclists: there’s no bike storage here, and they charge 12.50 euros per bike, per night, to keep them in your room. The rooms are small already, so that’s inconvenient as well as outrageous. I’ve stayed at lots of hotels around Europe and have never been charged for a bike, whether it was kept in my room or somewhere else.

The staff were genuinely warm, helpful, and flexible. I slept well in a nice room, and the price felt good for Barcelona. It made a handy base for exploring the city.
