Piulet Hostel

The bathroom and toilet are separate, which is handy, and you get a towel automatically. The bed was clean, and I liked the lovely Spanish tile floor, the outdoor terrace, and the kitchen with its electric stove and separated waste. It's a small, clean hostel in the city centre, with nice people around who are available to help. I wish the rooms had more hooks or shelves, maybe fold-out ones or small tables. You can't open the window even a little, which is a pity. The bathroom could use more hooks or shelves too.

There are several really good restaurants and coffee shops nearby. The hostel is well located, close to the Casas Batlló and Milà, and not too far from the gothic quarter. It was pretty calm inside, with no noise problems while I was there. The staff were friendly and helpful too. Lovely hostel.

The advertised services didn't match what was there, so I'd be very careful with this place. The reception barely spoke English, despite what the website said. It was also advertised as having laundry, but there wasn't any. The listing promised a socket by the bed, but there was only a USB port, and the actual sockets were in very inconvenient spots. The AC was off when I arrived. Reception said the manager wouldn't let them turn it on before 6 PM, which makes no sense since that's when you'd need it. After 6, they turned it on and set it to 24. It was so hot inside that it was cooler outdoors. When I asked reception to lower it, they said the boss said no. I asked to speak to the boss and they refused. AC was advertised, but this wasn't usable. I asked for a refund five minutes after walking in because of an issue at check-in. They said I could leave without a refund because the boss said no. Later, after they saw my review, they said I could check out. I handed over the keys and they told me to wait, then called the police to kick me out. They accused me of threatening them, but when I asked what I'd said, they told me they didn't have to say. They said they wouldn't pay me for the day but didn't want me there. At this price for this service, it feels like a straight-up scam. Overall, I wouldn't stay here again. I'd be very careful with such liars.

Really clean and relaxed boutique hostel, with a lovely lounge and terrace in a great location. Daniel at reception was friendly and super helpful. I'll definitely be back :)
