My favorite thing was being just meters from the beach. Barceloneta metro station is five minutes away, and the place has its own charm. There are also restaurants and tapas spots like bar jai-ca and brasa y tapas nearby, which is great if you want to experience Barcelona’s culture.

The location is the one good thing here. The walls seem paper thin, and you can hear your neighbors’ phone calls as if they were in your room. When their noise kept me awake at 4 AM, I complained, but the hotel’s answer was that I should have gotten out of my warm bed and come to reception in person. It felt like keeping things quiet was the sleeping guest’s responsibility, rather than something the hotel should handle through its building or management. The service was disappointing, and the soundproofing was even worse.

We had a fantastic stay and made some great memories. The staff were wonderful, and we walked to the beach to swim every morning. The dorm rooms are small, with a little kitchen area and a private bathroom. Ours had two single beds and a ceiling fan. My girlfriend and I pushed the beds together at night. With the window open and the fan running, it was really comfortable, and despite the street right outside, the room was very quiet.

The room was horrible. The floor was very dirty and seemed not to have been washed in a long time. There was rubbish in the closet, months’ worth of dust on the windowsill, and old, torn curtains. The bathroom had no toothbrush holder, and there was no hairdryer or kettle in the room. The cleaning staff came in to make the beds and take out the rubbish, but they should have washed the floor, cabinets, and windows instead. Those needed a proper clean.
