Soho Hotel

The only part of the room design I didn’t love was the bathroom. Its walls are transparent, with built-in shades that weren’t obvious to operate. There was a switch by the sink, but we didn’t figure it out until our last day. Even with the shades closed, turning on the bathroom lights in the middle of the night let quite a lot of light through. A nightlight in the toilet room would help. We didn’t try the food, though breakfast is available for an extra cost. Escriba across the street has excellent pastries. We also didn’t use the pool, but the rooftop area looked nice. Our upgraded room even had its own private terrace. The location was ideal, and we could walk to almost everywhere we wanted to go. The room was spacious, very clean, and had a quite comfortable bed and a really nice shower. Everyone working there was friendly and helpful. We only asked them to refresh the room once, and I was impressed that they still managed it even though we changed our sign from 'Do Not Disturb' in the afternoon. They did a great job. We had a really great stay and highly recommend it.

The staff were great, the location was handy, and the price felt like good value. The room was clean and perfectly satisfactory otherwise. But there was no daylight at all. The blinds are built into the windows and stay fully shut for the whole visit, in every room, with no explanation for why they can't or won't be opened. The floor-to-ceiling windows look like they'd let in plenty of light, but that's only half the story. It made every room feel like a basement.

The staff really made the stay. They were lovely, made us feel welcome, and were happy to help with anything. The location seemed good, though Barcelona is big, so getting around still means a walk depending on where you're headed. Our room was as expected and very clean. Breakfast had a limited selection, but it was well stocked, the food was fine, and the service was great. The only little annoyances were not having enough milk for tea and coffee, and having to plug the kettle in on the floor to reach a socket.

The room was really spacious and comfortable, and breakfast was decent with most of what you'd need. There's also a supermarket, restaurants, and plenty of shops nearby, so you won't have to worry about finding things. The staff were amazingly helpful. The metro is only a five-minute walk away, which makes the location a 10/10 for me. I'd give the hotel a 9/10 overall.
