Studios Pelayo Guest House

We loved our stay. The location near Plaça de Catalunya was great, and it’s no more than a 30-minute walk to Sagrada Familia, Montjic and the beach. There’s no breakfast at the hotel, but the receptionist was super friendly and gave us good suggestions for where to eat in the morning.

It was clean and the location was great, but I regret choosing it. The bathroom’s sliding door has a gap, so there’s no privacy. The double bed was just two singles pushed together. There was no mini fridge, coffee maker or kettle. There are plenty of other places on the same street for about the same price.

The staff are professional, passionate about their work, well organized and helpful to guests. Cleanliness was good. The rooms are small and dated, but very comfortable, and the beds are comfortable too. The air quality and heating and cooling systems are the main things that could be improved.

We slept really well because our window faced the courtyard, and the room had comfortable mattresses and pillows, working air conditioning, and a TV. The hotel was spotless, and the furniture, though a bit dated in style, was comfortable and in good shape. Its central location puts the metro and plenty of sights nearby, and the price felt reasonable for Barcelona. Reception is open around the clock and was ready to help; they also let us leave our bags if we arrived early or had time after checkout. We still don't understand the one-star rating. In other European cities, this would be a standard three-star hotel.
