Hotel Villa Emilia

I stayed for 10 days. The hotel has charm, but the service was dreadful. The shower tray was dangerously slippery, and one section of its badly finished edge was sharp enough to cut like a knife. I slipped on the first day. I'm not clumsy and don't have mobility issues, but I cut the sole of my foot and my heel badly enough to need treatment and an injection at the Barcelona Public Assistance Center. That same day, the heating and the room intercom weren't working. The first-aid kit they gave us had a bandage and disinfectant, and they even asked us to return them at checkout. Unprofessional and disrespectful, with a very low standard of service. Where was the hotel's charm? Zero, and then some. I spent more on the trouble, pharmacy visits for treatment and bandages, and antibiotics than one night at the hotel cost. I told reception I would never come back. The woman there said she knew nothing because she was new to the job.

We'd happily stay here again. Dogs are welcome for a €15 fee, which we thought was very competitive, and the beds are nice and large. The staff were friendly, and there are several nearby parking options at discounted rates. For a four-star place, the price was fair. Dressing gowns would have been nice, but that's a small thing. Thanks!

I booked a standard double room two weeks ahead, but reception put me in a completely dark mezzanine room right above the bar. It felt like a prison cell. The receptionist said I got it because I was the last person to book, and that the hotel was full so they couldn't move me, even though I arrived in the afternoon. I left and had to find somewhere else in a hurry. Afterwards I checked online and saw there were still rooms available for my dates. This hotel is on my blacklist for good.

I'd contacted the hotel before arriving to ask for a nice room, since I was traveling with my son and we planned to spend most of our time resting inside. Instead, we got what felt like the worst room, looking out at an old, rundown building. The depressing view spoiled the mood for us, and I don't understand why my advance request was ignored. I recently stayed at Hotel Omnium, a 2-star hotel in Barcelona, where both the cleanliness and the staff's attitude were noticeably better. This stay was really disappointing, and I wouldn't recommend it.
