Breakfast is included, and the hostel is very affordable and conveniently close to Bilbao city center. There are no kitchen facilities, just a microwave for guests, but apart from that it’s perfect.

We were a large group, and the hostel was clearly set up to handle groups like ours. The staff were friendly and efficient. Rooms were basic, with towels available to rent, and breakfast was just a bread roll and cereal. Nothing luxurious or especially comfortable.

We stopped here for the night before taking the ferry back to Ireland. The facilities were clean and nice, and there was private off-street parking. They can also accommodate camper vans and caravans.

I had a clean room on the 7th floor beside a large opening window, with a great view over the city. Bilbao was a really good experience, and the hostel was part of that. But after the first night I woke up with a couple of itchy rashes. Someone I didn't know had asked me if the hostel had bedbugs, and I brushed it off. After the second night I had several more itchy spots, and found a bedbug actively feeding on my big toe. I pulled it off and killed it.

The location was the main drawback for me. It's uphill and a bit out of the way from the city's activities, and public transit isn't always on its regular schedule when local strikes happen. Still, the front desk staff were really friendly and helpful. The place was almost empty during my one-night stay in February 2024, so I had a whole four-bed dorm to myself. Everything was clean, though the shower setup was a little awkward since there was nowhere to keep my clothes dry. The price was very reasonable.
