Casa Boado

We were a group of 11, including children and elderly people, and were left scrambling for accommodation with less than 48 hours to go. Our VRBO booking for Casa Boado had been confirmed for July 16-25, 2025, after we booked on March 30. Three days before travelling, we followed the platform’s advice and messaged the host because we still hadn’t heard anything. There was no reply, so we started to worry. On July 14, 48 hours before the trip, we called the owner using the numbers on the platform. One was disconnected and nobody answered the other. We found that ALOGA RENT SL managed the holiday rental and contacted them on their website, while my wife called them. A woman told us outright that we’d been scammed and that they didn’t have the house listed on that platform. That wasn’t true, as the attached images showed. We were furious and felt helpless hearing that from someone supposedly professional. The platform confirmed it wasn’t a scam and that the listing had been published by the agency managing the property for the owners. VRBO handled contact with the agency, and the money was refunded. The dates had already been rented to other people, who had been staying there for two days. ALOGA RENT’s response through VRBO was simply “Sorry, reservation.” “Cancelled,” with the reason given as “natural disasters or damage to the accommodation.” ALOGARENT SL showed negligence and a complete lack of professionalism by listing the property on several portals without checking reservations after they were made. Worst of all, they offered us no alternatives and left all 11 of us stranded with a booking. I’m sure the house itself is great, but beware if you have to book through this agency!

The owners were friendly both before our visit and while we were there, and the stay went beyond what we expected. We were six families with young children, and everyone loved the pool and green spaces. The weather was excellent for us too. We’ll definitely come back next year if our schedules work out.

The garden was so inviting, and the beautiful house was exactly the sort of country place I’d been looking for. It gave us the restful change of scenery we wanted, and we’ll return. Thanks, Antonio, for giving us these days of rest. There are a couple of very good, affordable restaurants nearby, I think one is called La Cabrita and the other Villanueva. Highly recommended if you want to recharge.

It’s a large house and could suit a big group, but the setup didn’t work very well for us. The kitchen is small and divided, and its fridge is tiny, like a hotel one. There’s a larger fridge, but it’s next door in one of the bedrooms, not in the house with the kitchen. The dishwasher is over there too, so we had to carry dishes 20 metres in a basin to wash them, then make the same trip to bring them back clean. A real pain. It’s also a small, 45-centimetre dishwasher. With 12 of us, we made a lot of basin trips. Cleaning could have been better as well: the barbecue was completely dirty, so we had to clean it ourselves before using it.
