Hostal La Rosa

The room was cozy, and they even set out breakfast on a cute little tray. We liked the value for the price, and I loved the place. It’s near the old town and El Puchero Extremeño, a traditional Extremaduran bar I highly recommend.

I slept really well in a clean, comfortable room, and the shower was fantastic. There’s a microwave for heating food and a refrigerator, and the place feels warm if you’re someone who gets cold easily. The location was my favorite part, with everything close by, though the walk up and down is worth it. The staff were friendly and helped sort out a mix-up that was mostly Booking.com’s fault, since what I’d been told there wasn’t true. I was shown a picture of a different room, which seemed odd, though I think the room I got was a little bigger. For a two-star hostel, it’s a good place to stay, and I hope they keep making improvements. The real problem was the noise from the neighbors upstairs. I was exhausted and asleep, but between 11:30 PM and midnight they were walking around, their dog was making noise, and they were dragging chairs. I still have the video. Supposedly there are quiet hours from 10 PM to 8 AM, but that wasn’t happening where I was. I hope the upstairs neighbors stop being so disruptive. The room itself was a 10/10.

The king-size bed was incredibly comfortable. The location is great too, though the rooms feel very old, and the thin walls mean you may hear noise.

For the price and the kind of hostel it is, everything was just right. Towels are the one thing they could improve by changing them every day. The breakfast options are limited to a coffee machine, milk, tea and cereal, and it would be nice to have more choices for adults.
