Apartamento AS CARBALLAS

One bathroom smelled awful, and we couldn't tell whether it was the air freshener or something else. We even wondered if it might be gas. The showers had weak pressure and were difficult to regulate. The house was cold, too: the people downstairs controlled the heating, and although they turned it up a bit after we complained, it was still cold at night. This isn't a whole chalet, just the upper floor of a house with other people living below. It's not very central, so I really wouldn't recommend it for doing the Camino. I wouldn't stay again.

The owner was so friendly and accommodating. The house was spacious, clean, and very reasonably priced. Everything was great.

I'm giving it one star only because I can't give it less. Before we arrived, we were told we could check in at noon, but then had to wait 45 minutes while the so-called cleaning lady, who was actually the mother-in-law, cleaned. There was hardly any cleaning done at all. The toilets were dirtier than the ones in the municipal parking lot. The mattresses were rock hard, and the bed made a horror-movie level of noise every time you moved. The sheets had sheep on them and were clearly for children, and all the towels were mismatched. The household items felt completely unprofessional. There was no Wi-Fi. The father-in-law kept hanging around in the garden, gossiping about what we were doing, and we were even told not to unmake all the beds because they would have to be made again the next day. They advertise the whole house or villa, but it's only the upstairs apartment, connected by an internal staircase to the in-laws' place downstairs. They also advertise a barbecue, yet there's not even an oven. We had to bring one from home so the food we'd bought wouldn't go to waste. This was the worst accommodation I've ever stayed in.

We were four adults and three children, and had a very happy stay. The house was clean and spacious, and having everything close by while we used just one floor suited us well. We spent two nights and three days there, and will definitely return.
