We arrived after midnight at a deathly quiet hotel with literally nothing going on around it. Our building was at the top of a hill, and after walking up and taking the hot, stuffy lift, we reached an equally hot and stuffy room with no water. Reception said there was a vending machine nearby, but we had no coins for the €2.50 bottle and the machine only took coins. We tried to charge our phones before bed, but our UK plug with adapter wouldn't fit any socket. We had a terrible night's sleep in a truly amazing bed. At breakfast, no staff member greeted us or even acknowledged us. The jug water was warm, the hot food wasn't warm, the cold meat counter had square, sweaty ham, and the fruit was tinned. We sat drinking bad coffee. Nobody checked the temperature of the hot food, which was clearly in the danger zone. I asked reception if this was normal and got an angry-looking woman who eventually turned to me as if I'd disturbed her with a question. I went back hoping to find someone who cared about the guest experience, but Marcos was rude and didn't listen. I showed him the adapter, which had broken when we tried it, and he just shrugged. When I said I was shocked there was no water in the room, he told me, “it is not in the contract”. This hotel cares about extracting money for everything, not its guests. The only staff who spoke to us were the friendly, helpful night porter and the cleaners. Everyone else acted as if they were above saying hello or good morning. If you're arriving late, know there is no shop. You can't buy tobacco products, not that I smoke, or food and water. I think it's a three-star hotel that hasn't removed the fourth star it once deserved. For value, it's the worst hotel I've stayed in anywhere. Avoid it like food poisoning, otherwise I'm confident you'll get food poisoning. Luckily, we were only there one night.

We stayed two nights, and one was pleasant while the other was terrible. On the second night, 6 May, the air conditioning suddenly came on throughout the hotel, and it was much more comfortable. At checkout, reception explained that there's only one air-conditioning system, which can provide either heat or cold air. On 5 May, apparently half the guests wanted heat and half wanted cooling, so they had to choose one side. I was the one sacrificed. It's strange that they could turn it on the next night. From a guest's point of view, this is ridiculous, especially in a newly renovated hotel. That single issue ruined the experience and our night, which isn't what we expected from a four-star vacation hotel. The first night, when we arrived, the room was very hot and the air conditioning wasn't working. Reception said there was no air conditioning at that time because it wasn't summer yet, even though it was 5 May. Opening the window didn't help, since there was no airflow, and we sweated and couldn't sleep. Apart from that, the room was clean, spacious and newly renovated. Breakfast was good, the staff were nice, and we also got a surprise birthday champagne. But none of that could make up for the air-conditioning problem. If you're sensitive to heat and visiting in spring, autumn or early summer, I'd avoid this hotel because they say there won't be air conditioning. In winter or summer, when there's enough demand for heat or cooling, it could be a great place for a vacation.

We couldn't get on the 10 o'clock shuttle to the beach because it was too crowded, and there were others left behind too. The hotel runs four shuttles a day, but the bus is too small for the number of people waiting. They should add more, especially in peak season. We stayed six nights and were satisfied overall. The atmosphere was very pleasant, and every member of staff we dealt with, including reception, restaurant staff and the cleaning ladies, was friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and very large, with a stunning balcony view. The food had excellent variety and tasted impeccable. I didn't find a single thing unpleasant.

The team there made our stay lovely, and we felt very well looked after. Everything was spotless, the rooms were large, and it was quiet the whole time. The location is a bit far from the beach and tourist center, but I liked the peace and quiet since that's what I went for. There are three swimming pools, two for kids, plus a sauna, gym and indoor pool. The water was warm in all of them. We went in July, and the weather helped a lot.

The hotel is close to the beaches and a boulevard full of restaurants and shops, with a supermarket nearby too. Parking was easy, though we visited in October, so I don't know what it's like in summer. The decor feels dated, but otherwise it's a great hotel, with nice staff, clean, spacious bedrooms and a good breakfast. We only ate dinner there once and didn't like it, though I can't say whether that was just that night or how it always is.
