Casa Tia Paula

The staff don't speak English, but they use Google Translate and are happy to help with anything. This place felt like an oasis out on the Camino meseta: a huge room, a gorgeous comfortable bed, a big spa bath, and a great shower. The kitchen is well equipped, and there's even a little log burner for winter. Stay here!

A nice little place to take a break, with your own bathroom. The kitchen and lounge are shared, and there's a washing machine along with all the other facilities you might need.

The house is a bit outside the main street, but Tia Paula was lovely and pointed me toward Santiago and nearby shops, including the restaurant and supermarket. The full kitchen meant I could cook instead of eating out if I wanted. She arranged a taxi and backpack transport too. She doesn't speak much English, but uses a tablet to translate. I paid 35 euro for the ride to Ledigos while my backpack went to Sahagun. The Wi-Fi connection was good, and I was lucky enough to get a room upgrade. Gracias!

The studio itself is lovely, with nice decor and careful finishing, and it has a fantastic toilet. There’s also a huge double jacuzzi, though it was too hot for us to use it. I can imagine it being great after a few hard stages on foot. But the room gets really warm on the second floor in weather over 30 degrees, and a fan just doesn't cut it without air conditioning. The Wi-Fi was almost nonexistent too. Avoid the top floor when it’s hot, and keep in mind there’s no lift if you have mobility issues. It’s a shame, because the room is otherwise great and not far from the centre.
