The surroundings are lovely, with good walks and natural pools, and I bet they’re beautiful in spring. We had a great stay. The owner was friendly, and pets are welcome.

It’s a simple, rather bare-bones place, but it has what you need: a small fridge, two electric burners, hot water, heating, a TV and microwave. The owner, Leticia, was the highlight. She was attentive, and we were lucky enough to share a lovely evening with her. The accommodation is in the little village of Casas del Castañar, well placed for exploring all of the Jerte Valley. The centuries-old chestnut trees are just 1.5 km away. We’d stay again.

It’s roomy and cozy, with lovely wooden floors, and they’ve thoughtfully left things like heating, milk and breakfast supplies. Getting there is a bit tricky, though, as access is via Fontanilla Street.
