Grupotel Playa Club

We had a lovely, relaxing holiday with our young family. The location worked really well: parking on the street was free, and shops, restaurants and a beach were just a five-minute walk away. More places to eat and another beach were around 15 minutes on foot. There was plenty to enjoy at the hotel. The indoor pool was especially handy in cooler weather, the outdoor pool was relaxing, and the pool bar had lots of food and drink options. Breakfast was very good, with plenty of choice. Our room was large and clean, and the staff were friendly, especially at breakfast and around the pool. The bed was a little hard, and reception didn’t tell us much when we checked in. Otherwise, we had a great stay and would recommend it. Thank you!

The people we met were a highlight. There were lots of younger families from different countries, and everyone was so friendly. We’d definitely come back. The complex is family friendly, with hotel facilities. The two-floor apartments have two bedrooms; ours was clean but a little dated. The grounds were spotless, and the large pool always had room to swim and play, with loungers available without having to reserve them early. Staff were fantastic and couldn’t do enough for us, especially Ricardo. They also organized volleyball and football. There’s table tennis, a good gym with cardio machines and a bench press, a sauna, a steam room, and an indoor pool for colder days. The beach is a two-minute walk away, with paddle boards and kayaks for rent, and we loved snorkeling. Hotel entertainment was light, and evenings were quiet, so bring cards or board games. Breakfast was good, especially the fresh fruit, and there was a nice tea selection. Dinner was fine, though nothing special, so we ate out about half the time for a change. The area felt a bit touristy, and we had to look around for good food that wasn’t pizza. Aquarium near the harbour was our favourite for fresh fish. Bus strikes affected our stay, and taxis were hard to find when it wasn’t sunny, so we realized having a car would have been useful.

The grounds were gorgeous, and the staff were lovely and helpful. The apartment was a decent size for one or two people, but it felt short on amenities for the price: there was only one bottle of water and some shower gel, no tea, coffee or milk, and not much kitchen equipment. The cupboards smelled musty, and the bathroom had no extractor. The outdoor areas, including the big pool, were lovely, but the indoor spa needs maintenance. The sauna and steam room often had no heat or steam.

The food was excellent, and the dining room never had lines or felt crowded. Everything was clean and well looked after. The pool was large, with about half of it deep, and there was no scramble for sun loungers. The hotel stayed very quiet even though it was full. There was also a nice beach about 250 meters away. We stayed in a comfortable two-level apartment with two terraces. One looked onto the pleasant garden and pool, the other toward the sea and wild landscape. Everyone on staff we met was friendly and helpful, and it was a pleasure dealing with them. There was a problem when we first arrived, but it was sorted out quickly. After that, the hotel met all my expectations, and I’d choose it again.
