Hostal Sa Prensa

The location is great and the service was decent, but I wasn’t keen on the food. It tasted cheap and prepackaged. Not a terrible experience, though you’d probably eat better somewhere else. I’m reviewing the restaurant, not the hotel.

Book ahead for dinner, as the place gets busy, and note that lunch and dinner have the same menu. We enjoyed eating here: the food was good quality, the staff were lovely, and they stay open late.

The calamari was the best we had on holiday, with crisp batter and squid that stayed soft rather than rubbery. We also loved the little sausages cooked with wine and peppercorns, especially dipped bread, and the pizza and other tapas were great too. Prices seemed reasonable, and fresh seafood was advertised as the catch of the day. I think the restaurant is well known for seafood. We only came for a short lunch, but sat on the sunny terrace looking out to sea and could happily have stayed all afternoon. There were lots of Spanish speakers, which made it seem like a good place that doesn’t cater too much to tourists. Our waiter was friendly and efficient. The toilets and reception area looked clean, fresh and open. I’d pop in again if I were nearby.

The goat cheese salad is well worth trying. It’s peaceful by the water, with hardly any traffic around, and the food was so delicious. The staff were really friendly too. I truly recommend this restaurant.
