The warm, clean pool was a plus, but the villa needs care and upgrades. The kitchen units were in bad shape, hanging off or refusing to close. There’s no air con in the living room, and the main bedroom unit barely works, which made evenings uncomfortable. Relaxing was difficult with just one tiny sofa and chairs for the rest of the seating. Ants were everywhere, even coming through the plug sockets and turning up in the sink, cupboards and fridge. The lighting was poor at night, especially near the pool table. The ping pong table was useless, left on uneven mud or wasteland. The photos make the place look a lot nicer than it is.

The place is lovely, but the trees need trimming because they keep half the pool in shade all day. The pool temperature also could be a little higher. It shows 30 on the top level but was mostly 27, which was fine in sunshine, less so with clouds for 7 of our 14 days.

The beach is right on Alvor’s edge, and the ground is flat all the way along it, without bumps or stairs. That’s fantastic if you have leg problems, and really good for wheelchair users. We were very happy.
