Hostel La Corredera

The Plaza Corredera views are incredible, and the hotel is clean, quiet, family run, and full of character. It's more than 200 years old, with very thick original walls. The woman who runs it was fantastic. I don't speak Spanish and she knows only a little English, but she used Google Translate on her computer to answer my questions and tell me about the hotel's history. Affordable places like this are what make travel around Old Cordoba so interesting and fun. A great find.

The noise is awful, especially during Holy Week, and I don't think you'll be able to sleep. Someone has pointed out that they could improve sound insulation despite the building's age. They seem to have no reason to spend more on it when their location keeps reservations coming, even with the current conditions. Getting there during Holy Week can also be difficult. Processions block access to some streets, and the area fills with tourists. I'd avoid it in the busy season.

The hostel feels right in the heart of the city, in a beautiful old building, and had everything we needed. Its location is ideal for the center of Córdoba and the main sights. The manager was kind and keen to help, though she didn't speak much English. The office wasn't open often or for long, but there were phone numbers on the door that I assume would reach her if needed. Reception also had plenty of useful leaflets and information about Córdoba. We could leave our bags there until 1pm on checkout day and head back into town before our train. There are nice shared spaces, including a lounge with comfortable chairs and a TV, plus a rooftop terrace with tables and chairs. The bathrooms are basic but clean and functional. We visited in a quiet part of the year, so waiting wasn't an issue, though it might be during busy season. There was a sink in our room, which worked well. Keep in mind the walls are thin and the square gets loud when it's busy, so bring good earplugs. The price was very reasonable, especially compared with nearby options. There's also a lovely independent wine bar with organic wines, Jugo, and a vegan and vegetarian restaurant, La Bohéme. We'd definitely recommend staying here.
