Hotel Riviera

The walls are paper-thin, so you can hear everything from the next room, even ordinary phone notification sounds. That’s a real privacy issue. Still, the rooms and bathroom were clean, warm in winter, and decent, and the staff were excellent. The lobby was pleasant, check-in was easy, and there’s an elevator. We stayed one night while traveling from Granada to Seville, choosing it for its easy-to-find location near the Cordoba bus station. The attractions are about a 10-minute walk away. A reasonable budget place for a short stay.

The beds are comfortable, the shower has good pressure and temperature, and the staff are nice. The rooms are fine and about what you’d expect from a two-star hotel. The rooms could be cleaner, though, and I’d suggest replacing the shower curtain with a door since the curtain tends to stick to you.

The room had all the essentials and the location was okay, but check-in was awful. We chose the hotel because we had a hire car and its booking.com page said parking was available. The man at the desk told me the hotel had no parking. When I showed him the Hotel Riviera listing, he said the website was wrong. He didn’t apologize, got more irate, and told me, “it’s not my problem.” I’ve never had such rude service at a front desk, and that’s why I’ve rated it so badly.

There’s no breakfast, but we found good cafes nearby. The concierge was pretty good and available 24 hours, and held our keys whenever we left the room. We stayed three nights at this low-cost hotel, about a 10-minute walk from the train station across a park. Our room was quaint, with three single beds in a row, like the three bears in Goldilocks. It had both a bath and a shower. Pretty good place.
