Hotel Spa Rio Ucero

The beds were super comfortable, and the pool and spa area were better than what I've seen in some five-star hotels. This place is well above three stars.

We had a quiet, relaxing stay, with no noisy neighbors or other disturbance. The location was fantastic: the old town was only a few minutes away on foot and looked magnificent from our terrace, and we could see the castle from our room too. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The restaurant was spotless, the food and service were very good, terrace dining was available, and prices seemed average. Everything else was clean and as it should be, including the linens, and the air conditioning worked well. We had asked for a king or at least a queen bed, but got two separate twin beds pushed together. That was fine for us, though a younger couple might mind. The bathroom was clean, but only had shampoo, bath gel, and hand-cleaning gel. The spa was pleasant but nothing unusual, and the price was decent. Rates are much better during the week.

We loved our lunch here. For 12.9€ we got three courses, with wine and water included, and the food was well above average. The service was genuinely very friendly too. Highly recommended.

The thin walls made our stay miserable. We could hear the people next door having sex, and later heard everyone walking along the hall. When we called reception to ask for another room, they simply said no, without explaining. The receptionists were rude and unfriendly throughout. The spa was a disappointment too, and not worth the extra cost. It was 15€ per person, wasn't included in the hotel price as we'd been led to think, required a reservation, and allowed only 1.5 hours at a time. Staying two days meant paying twice to use it on both days. Towels weren't provided, so we were expected to use the one towel from our room; when I asked for another, I was refused. I had to shower the next morning with the wet towel I'd used at the spa. The spa closed too early, at 9pm, and swim hats and flip-flops were compulsory. Since we didn't have them, we paid another 10€ on top of the 30€ we'd already paid. The hotel provides just one towel per person, no exceptions. I don't recommend staying here and wouldn't come back.
