Casa Rural La Aulaga

The setting was idyllic, but the wasps made it hard to enjoy being outside during the day. I know it's the countryside, but there were so many that we stayed indoors for fear of being stung, and one of the children did get stung. We booked for a few summer days and the stay wasn't what we'd hoped for. Inside, the house was really dirty. It looked as if the previous guests had only given it a quick clean, and we ended up doing the same. There were cobwebs, filthy kitchen surfaces and utensils, and a bad smell from the sink and outside refrigerator. The living room table was covered in what we thought were termites. For four people, they provided just one bath towel and one hand towel per couple. That felt incredibly stingy when towels cost so little and were meant to be included.

It's right out in the countryside, so expect bees and mosquitoes along with lots of quiet. The house is fantastic for getting away from everything, though the pool could use some work. The fridge is very small and can barely hold any bottles.

Everything was tidy and very clean, and the house had what we needed. It's cozy, with incredible views, and a great place to get away from daily life. The only things I'd change are the small fridge, which could be better equipped, and the long walk to the trash can.

The quiet was nice, but the house and pool badly need attention. The road in was awful, with huge potholes, and the cleanliness was just as bad. Bugs came in under the door. I live in the countryside too, so I don't buy the idea that this is just normal. The place felt very neglected. Inside, the bulbs were so dim it was hard to cook, and outside we had to use our phone lights to see. There was only one cleaning rag, black-stained and stiff as a board. Balloon scraps were stuck in the faucet, maybe left by previous guests who had been playing with their kids. Even the sofa cushions smelled awful. In response to the comment that they clean after every checkout, I'm not saying they don't, but it seems they only clean what "the mother-in-law sees." The ceilings had huge black cobwebs, thick with what looked like years of dust. There's peace and quiet, sure, but plenty needs improving.
