Apartamentos Grist

The location was the only real plus. The facilities were awful and the cleanliness left a lot to be desired. My husband has allergies, and the dust and mites made him feel like he couldn’t breathe whenever we went inside. We ended up in the emergency room so they could open up his bronchial tubes. This was years ago, but judging by the other reviews I’ve read, it seems just as bad or worse now.

The noise from the boiler was awful. It ran from 8 pm to 9 am, and I could hear it in every room. Even earplugs didn’t help when I tried to sleep. The apartment is also extremely dated and uncomfortable, with mattresses and pillows that seem about 30 years old and everything very worn. They turn off the heating even when it’s only 5°C. The kitchenware is a mess, the pans are broken, there’s no hairdryer, and the towels are torn. If you’re looking at this because it’s cheaper than other apartments, I’d spend the extra €30. It’s not worth it. Not recommended at all. It really does feel like a house of horrors.

The location is very handy, right beside the tobacconist’s where you can pick up a few things, and there are several hiking routes starting in the village. We stayed in the Grist 2 apartment. It was fine, though the furnishings and kitchen could use more attention. There’s one full bathroom, plus a basic restroom with the washing machine and toilet.

The heating keeps the room at a comfortable temperature, but you pay for it by listening to water bubbling through the radiators all night. If you’re a light sleeper, that can be a real problem. Despite that drawback, it’s a decent place to spend the night.
