El Lagar Del Abuelo

We visited in early August and found a lovely place to slow down. The house is spacious, peaceful, well equipped, and beautifully furnished. In the summer heat, the cool ground floor, patio, and pool were especially nice. The surrounding area is just as appealing, from the scenery of Arribes del Duero to the local villages, especially Miranda and Fermoselle, and the excellent food. We’d love to return in winter, explore the countryside, and make use of the fireplace.

Maria José and Manuel were so attentive and kind, and did everything they could to make our family feel comfortable. The house has a charming patio with a foosball table for the kids, while inside there’s a big living room with a TV, board games, and a fireplace. The bedrooms have really comfortable beds, and the kitchen has everything you need. It’s a luxurious, peaceful place for a relaxing family holiday, with all the essentials for an enjoyable stay.

We’ve now stayed at this house three times as a family, and every visit has been wonderful. The couple who run it are very kind and attentive, and the rooms are comfortable, well equipped, and spotless. The kitchen has what you need to prepare meals, and there’s a barbecue in a separate annex for cooking outside. It’s also a great base for visiting nearby places around Arribes del Duero. We’d happily recommend it to anyone looking for comfort and thoughtful service, and we plan to come back again.

It’s an easy place to escape the daily routine, thanks to the lovely natural setting and María José and Manuel’s hospitality. The views across Arribes del Duero are incredible, and you’re only a short walk from the Portuguese border. We visited nearby Miranda do Douro and really enjoyed it. The rural house is about three hours from Madrid, so it works well for a weekend away. The setting, house, and welcome have us wanting to return.
