Malates Slow Boutique Hotel

We had an amazing stay at this lovely boutique hotel. The view was great, the rooms were very nice, and breakfast was excellent, with high-quality products. We went in low season, but the weather was very good on the first day, so we got to use the beautiful pool beside the river. We had the infinity terrace room. The terrace was semi-private, and could be more private and extend the full length of the balcony. A mini fridge in the bedroom would also be a nice improvement.

The staff were warm and extremely helpful, and the free breakfast was delicious and well stocked. The rooms are beautiful and very clean, with the pool and beach access especially impressive. Downtown Foz is a short walk away. We liked it so much that we booked a second night, a great getaway.

The dining room and lounge look out over the ria and feel bright and airy. Breakfast was a well-stocked buffet with Spanish, continental, and British choices, including sweet buns, fruit and yoghurt, meats and cheeses, tortilla, bacon, and eggs. The staff were all friendly and spoke excellent English, and there were many English-speaking visitors while we were there. The setting overlooking the ria is gorgeous, though it was too cool for us to try the pool. It's a quiet, peaceful hotel on the outskirts of Foz, just off the Cantabrian way walking route and quite near the railway station. Our room was small but comfortable, with plenty of storage and a large terrace facing the road. The bathroom seemed designed for someone much taller than me, since I could only just reach the sink. The shower was huge, but the end where it's located is very dark, with no light, which was annoying.

The garden, pool, and roomy shared spaces make it easy to linger here. Our room was bright and spacious, with high-end materials and lots of thoughtful details. Service was very good, and breakfast was simple but good quality, with everything we needed. A cozy, lovely hotel.
