It was really quiet, which I appreciated, but the restaurant downstairs was shut, as were most places in town, so breakfast wasn't an option. The room itself was clean and the bed comfortable. Pretty basic overall, and the toilet drains need a proper clean because they smell.

The food was excellent, and the staff were really helpful.

The location was good and the room was acceptable, but the noise was awful. You could hear everything from the hallway and the other rooms. The hallway light timer was broken too. Every five minutes the lights failed to switch off, followed by a very loud “CLACK” all night, so I couldn't sleep properly.

The rooms were a decent size, but they seemed a bit neglected. I had a cold shower, and the blind's cord was broken so I couldn't lower it. It felt expensive for what I got.

The chestnut woods around the town are centuries old, with paths that make you want to wander. I was passing through and stopped here by chance, and both the accommodation and the town surprised me in a good way. It's quiet and rustic, and good value too. Since I was there on a Monday, all the town's bars were closed, so I didn't get a feel for the local character. I'd happily stay again if I came back.
