I booked one night, but the booking process was odd from the start. I couldn’t tell whether I was meant to pay there or somehow pay in advance. Then, a few hours before check-in, they cancelled my reservation without giving a reason or providing any customer service. Ideal if you want to try being homeless in an unfamiliar city.
There’s no elevator, and the rooms begin on the third floor, so keep that in mind. Our room itself was spacious, clean, well kept, and maintained daily, with a full ensuite bathroom. The location is great, in the old town just off the main street for shopping and dining, and having a convenience store on the ground floor was handy. The downside was the double bed: it was actually two singles that slid apart whenever we tried to cuddle.
We stayed three nights, and the location was the biggest plus. You’re right in the middle of the nightlife, so it can get loud, and church bells seemed to ring every ten minutes or so. The nights were really hot, and there was no fan, so we sweated our way to sleep. The room was compact, as expected, and the beds were comfortable. I also wish they’d provided small bottles of shampoo and body wash, plus toothpaste. Without checked luggage, buying large bottles and tubes only to leave them behind feels wasteful. It was a good stay, but there are things to improve. Not ideal if sleep matters most, though for me the location made up for it.
The room was clean and perfectly fine for €54 a night, and the location is right in the center of Gerona. The host, though, was rude and seemed annoyed. We rang the bell without realizing the front door was open, and he let us in but sharply told us not to ring it. The reception door stays closed, so reaching him isn’t easy. Ten minutes before checkout, we were already being hurried out. When we finally checked out, we had to ring the bell again, and he only half opened the reception door. We didn’t even get a goodbye. The room was fine, but don’t book here if you care about good service.
There are bars and shops just outside, including a supermarket next door, and the cathedral and other sights are a short walk away. The train station is about 15 minutes on foot. Our room was a bit noisy, which is to be expected on a main street, but it was small and clean. The linen was changed daily and the glasses replaced. The shared bathroom was clean, and in two days I didn’t see anyone else using it, so I don’t think many people share it. They were happy to accommodate our request for a late check-in.
