From here, Granada's old town is easy to explore on foot, and you can walk up to the Alhambra if you like. There's also a bus every few minutes at the foot of the hill, reached by a pleasant 10-minute walk through a park. Parking is in a nearby underground garage, probably part of the church complex, and you can pay at reception without booking ahead. The hotel occupies a former monastery, with an active church congregation and a school on the grounds whose sports facilities are used daily, presumably by clubs too. Even so, we didn't have any significant noise in the morning or evening. Inside, the renovation is rather bland, and the large courtyard could be improved and better integrated. Our double room was unfortunately tiny. We saw much larger rooms along the corridors, some apparently unoccupied, so the owner should offer those first and use the smaller rooms only when occupancy is high. The bathroom also had a slightly musty smell. Reception staff were quiet but friendly; the breakfast room staff were less so. Breakfast, though, was by far the most extensive we had on our whole Andalusia trip, with something for everyone.

Dinner was a mess. They served everyone but me and ignored me for 40 minutes. I finally had to get the attention of a waiter who seemed to have about 100 people to look after, and by then I was furious and walked out. Eat elsewhere, there are lots of bars and restaurants on the main road with great food. The location is great, and the rooms are nice, though small, with modern showers. Don't expect a warm welcome.

The place has a fantastic atmosphere, almost as if you can see the nuns walking along the corridors. It's in a romantic part of town, lovely for a walk after sunset. Our room was clean and had everything needed for the night. They also gave us earplugs, which was nice even though we didn't need them. The elderly man at reception was nice, but a bit stiff. The hotel itself was good.

I had a wonderful stay and would come back. It's a beautiful hotel, and the monastery is amazing. The staff were kind and helpful, breakfast was generous, tasty and varied, and the bathrooms were well maintained. My room was cleaned too. One small thing I'd ask them to fix: tuck the bedsheets under the mattress, otherwise you can end up with an uncomfortable night.
